About General Staff Development/Training Programs
“From my vantage point, your individual and family treatment initiatives as well as involvement in the STARS Program shows what a skillful and caring treatment specialist you are. You’ve had a meaningful impact on the lives of dozens of teenagers and families through your work and have quickly gained the confidence of many Juvenile Court and Child Welfare social workers within our staff.
“The quality of your research and ability to identify with the children and families we work with and the humanity that you exhibit only added to the positive word-of-mouth testimonials that preceded these training seminars.” –Barry Neumann, Social Work Supervisor-Juvenile Court Ongoing Unit, Sheboygan County Division of Social Services
About “The Volcano–Strategic Intervention With Trauma Victims”
“[Steve”s] presentation focused on developing an in-depth understanding of victims involved in traumatic events and the disruptive behaviors that surface in the therapeutic setting. His training included Brain Scans, Heart Math Stress Scans, and short upbeat videos. His program assisted our employees with a better understanding of trauma identification and intervention planning; which included two quick and easy assessment tools used to recognize traumatized youth.
Our training evaluations were extremely positive and we plan on having Mr. Sawyer back for an all day speaking engagement. Just a few of the comments were:
- ‘Could easily be an eight-hour course. So much information, teaching, etc., to cram into four hours.’
- ‘Great speaker! Should be a mandatory training for anyone who works with youth.’
- ‘I have a better understanding of our patients.”
- ‘This training provided me with the necessary tools to improve my ITPs.’”
–Marilyn Clarenbach, Director of Staff Development,
State of Wisconsin Department of Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services
About “Crossing the River” and “The Storm”
“It was very refreshing to hear a behavioral health professional, who understands teens, speak with excitement and hope. I personally enjoyed the information regarding the brain development. The information not only gave a reason for the behavior, but also provided many options for parents on how to communicate when faced with the behavior. Many of us left that night with new strategies to try, and also with the insight into ourselves and our own emotional response to our teens.” –Sue Debelack, Coordinator, Waukesha Alliance Supporting Strong United Parents (WASSUP)
