Crossing the River–Intervention With Resistant Teens
This workshop is designed to increase an adult’s understanding of resistant behaviors in the adolescent stage of development. The metaphor, “Crossing the River,” supports individuals working with resistance. It creates a structure for their intervention by breaking the process down into six manageable variables. In addition, participants learn 10 specific skills to int more efficiently and effectively during moments of resistant behavior. This workshop is energic and humorous.

This presentation focuses on developing an in-depth understanding of victims involved in traumatic events such as abuse, accidents, neglect and the impact these events has on their behavior. This training is fascinating, utilizing Brain Scans, HeartMath Stress Scans, and short, upbeat videos.
Trauma remains a hidden issue negatively impacting homes, schools and the community. It is often misdiagnosed as ADHD or Bi-Polar disorder. The program will assist with trauma identification and intervention planning; this portion will include an overview of two quick and easy assessment tools used to recognize traumatized youth.
The Rock Slide–The Somatic Slide/Affect Management
The Star –Emotional Awareness Techniques that Change Acting Out Behaviors
The Star is a collection of experiences and techniques based upon Steve’s interventions with the most severely acting out youth in both the home and school settings. This training includes video clips, graphics, HeartMath Stress Scans and real life examples to teach the fine art of effective intervention with an overly emotional youth. These techniques have created dramatic changes in many youth’s lives by transforming their emotional awareness level.
Participants will gain a greater understanding about the true nature of acting out behaviors based upon over stimulation in the brain and the harboring of negative emotion. Participants that attend will walk away with new and innovative options for more effective interventions, and clearer understanding of the techniques they have already used.
